Sir Winston Churchill once stated that the best argument against a democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.
That voter would have been British in the 1940s

I wonder what he would have said if that voter were a MAGA Republican?

Yes Winston DID drink a lot. However he was able to lead Britain through the WWII.

Eisenhower and Montgomery gave Juno Beach to the Canadians on D-Day, "Give it to the psychotics!"
Juno Beach was heavily guarded, There were many casualties. The Canadian did meet their D-Day objective.
German Commanders stated that they had a 50% desertion rate when his unit was fighting Canadians.
That was due in large part to the way the Canadian Artillery functioned in support.
The changes made are used today. by RA, RAA, RCA, RNZA and the US Artillery.
However, the US Artillery to this day does not fully understand the principles that made it so effective.
