The value of goods and services sold by Canada to the United States is much higher than value of the goods and services purchased by Canadians from the United States.
THOSE CANADIAN BASTARDS!
The fact is that Canada can instantly flip the statistic (I.E. Canada buys more from the US).
60% of the crude oil purchased by the United States comes from Canada. BT (Before Trump) the price of the oil sold by Canada to the US was HEAVILY discounted.
At the moment the price of crude oil sold by Canada to the US is priced at a premium over WTI.
If Canada were to stop sending crude oil to US refineries specifically designed for their oil, the Canadian surplus would instantly become a deficit.
Canada is now selling crude oil and LNG to Europe and Asia. Eventually Canada will have to increase production to provide any oil at all to the US.
For the record Canada is also virtually the sole supplier of Potash, Aluminum, Rare Earth Metals, and a large amount of Electrical Energy to the United States.

While Canada has reduced the number F-35 fighter jets in their outstanding order, they are still buying 20 or so. Where is the US getting the Aluminum to build them?

Mr Trump has pissed off more than forty countries that at least were customers. Never mind the country that is their best customer.
It follows that the US will be buying and selling less to those customers. That means they will collect less taxes. You know who will have to make up the shortfall, never mind the deficit
